Forest Health Restoration
A healthy forest is synonymous with a fire resilient forest. Forest health projects aim to create conditions in which native plant and tree species and wildlife can flourish. Forest health projects include the following:
- Thinning overstocked tree stands
- Clearing vegetation and trees to create shaded fuel breaks
- Removing nonnative plant and tree species
- Removing insect-infested trees and plants
- Reducing hazardous fuels
- Applying recommended and approved pesticides and herbicides
